5 x 8 Amethyst Crystal Slice with Wood Accents
I enjoy making boxes that are truly unique while working with media that I love. In this case fused glass, gemstones, copper, and wood. I had so much fun makeing this one! It’s has very highly textured fused glass components with spring green, purple, and cranberry pink colors. They are offset by iridized krinkle glass. The glass is held together using steel banding for superior strength, and solder that has been copper plated. The sides are beveled glass and the bottom is mirror. The handle is hand carved Purple Heart with Gabon Ebony accents. The box is mounted on a base made with purple heart and maple. A large amethyst crystal slice is the special gemstone that I cut especially for this box. The box is 5” x 8” x 2” excluding it’s base.
